Rwanda Red Cross assists the government in various humanitarian activities regarding the prevention of disasters during peacetime as well as in armed conflicts.
Some of these are often natural disasters of floods, landslides, famine, and earthquakes but also can be manmade leading to the displacement of people. A big range of activities in this area are assigned to Rwanda Red Cross owing to its experience in disaster management.
The disaster management program is comprised of three components:
- Disaster preparedness
- Disaster risk reduction
- Disaster response or recovery
